New Lithium-Ion Batteries Have 20-Year Lifespan
By Joseph Tepper, October 15, 2014 @ 12:09 PM (EST)

You know that agonizing feeling that your lithium-ion batteries are slowly losing their charge capacity? Yeah, that may be a thing of the past.

Researchers have developed new lithium-ion technology that will increase your battery’s lifespan by more than 20 years. That’s two decades of charging and using your battery without any decrease in its capacity.

The breakthrough came with the decision to use titanium dioxide nanotubes inside the battery in place of standard graphite. The result is the ability to consistently charge for 10,000 cycles and refill the charge much faster. These new batteries will reach 70 percent charge within two minutes!

Gotta love technology.
