Nauticam has announced its underwater housing for the new Nikon Z6 III. The third-gen midrange full-frame mirrorless is the first interchangeable-lens camera to boast a “partially stacked CMOS sensor,” which aims to reap most of the benefits of a “fully” stacked sensor—quicker autofocus, less rolling shutter, faster continuous shooting, higher-frame-rate video capture, and so on—without the associated high manufacturing cost. In point of fact, the Z6 III’s spec sheet is closing in on those of the Z8 and Z9, including 14fps burst shooting with the mechanical shutter and video recording up to 6K/60p 12-bit N-RAW and 5.4K/60p ProRes in 10-bit 4:2:2.
As you’d expect, the Nauticam NA-Z6III housing is designed to make the most of both the stills and video capabilities of the Z6 III. You get Nauticam’s well-known attention to ergonomic detail, with every camera control rerouted to the most convenient spot alongside the integrated handles. The aluminum housing comes standard with the company’s integrated vacuum check and leak detection system, so you can enjoy peace of mind before you enter the water.
The NA-Z6III is priced at $4,129 and can be pre-ordered now from retailers such as Backscatter.
