Nauticam Shipping Housing for Atomos Shinobi II Monitor
By Ian Bongso-Seldrup, February 5, 2025 @ 09:00 PM (EST)

Nauticam is now shipping its latest monitor housing for the new Atomos Shinobi II. For the Mark II, Atomos redesigned the case, which is now 30% slimmer, and improved the brightness of the screen—at 1,500 nits, the 5-inch 10-bit HDR monitor is now 50% brighter than its predecessor, according to Atomos. With the Shinobi II, users can monitor HDMI signals up to 4K/30p.

As with Nauticam’s other monitor housings, the NA-Shinobi II allows you to take full advantage of the monitor’s suite of focus and exposure analysis tools. The buttons on the housing interface with the touchscreen, giving you a variety of overlays and visualizations, such as focus peaking and false color overlays. The housing ships with outgoing HDMI bulkhead and cable pre-installed as well as the additional M16 HDMI bulkhead for the camera housing, while an HDMI cable is included for connecting the bulkhead to the camera inside the camera housing.

Available from retailers such as Backscatter, the NA-Shinobi II housing is priced at $2,671.

Intended for both photo and video shooters, the Shinobi II connects via our HDMI cable system to supported housings to allow for enhanced ease of viewing.

INTRODUCING NA-SHINOBI II

The Nauticam NA-Shinobi II Housing

The Atomos Shinobi II features a bright 5" 1500-nit 10-bit HDR screen that is powered by Sony FP series batteries. The Nauticam NA-Shinobi II Housing seamlessly integrates the Shinobi II into your underwater system. Connected to supported cameras and housing with the Nauticam HDMI Cable and Bulkhead system, shooters can take advantage of the monitor’s full suite of focus and exposure analysis tools.

Enhanced Toolset

The various overlays and visualizations of the Shinobi II can be activated via the buttons on the face of the NA-Shinobi II including the powerful Analysis Mode that places the most commonly used exposure tools alongside the footage.

Various Aspect Ratio overlays are also available in addition to traditional Focus Peaking and False Color overlays. LUTs can also be uploaded to the monitor to enable Live LUT preview of the footage with the LUT applied.

HDMI Connectivity

The NA-Shinobi II comes with the outgoing watertight Standard HDMI bulkhead and cable pre-installed as well as the additional M16 HDMI that is affixed to the supported camera housing. A 200mm HDMI (D-A) cable is included for connecting the M16 bulkhead to the camera inside the camera housing.

Integrated Vacuum Check and Leak Detection System

The Nauticam vacuum check and leak detection system is shipped with NA-Shinobi II as standard equipment which along with the pre-installed accessory vacuum valve (PN 25625), this monitoring system provides constant updates on the water tight and safe-to-dive status of the housing. A simple color coded LED lighting system lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is built into the same circuit, so if there is water intrusion, an audible and visual indication will occur. The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms caused by a change in outside temperature, or from a camera heating up on an action packed dive.
