Two of the biggest camera releases of the year have been the Nikon D800 and the Canon 5D Mk III—and Nauticam has been one of the first to announce the release of a housing for both groundbreaking models.
Today, Nauticam announced the NA-5DMkIII housing for Canon’s latest DSLR. Depth rated to 330 feet, the NA-5DMkIII features several new types of controls designed to make controlling your 5D even easier underwater than on land. A “double paddle switch” simultaneously operates the AF-on and video record, piano keys for set and quick control, and a multi-controller pad for the camera’s joystick that allows movement up/down and diagonally.

For a big housing, it is the company’s claim that ISO, Live View/Movie and Focus point controls are all within finger’s reach of the right handle that stands out the most.
As far as strobe connection, currently, a single nikonos bulkhead comes standard with the housing—but an adaptor for S6/Ikelite style connections will also be made available.

Nauticam even hinted at a pretty cool idea in the works: a hot shoe to fiber optic connection that would allow a quicker flash recycle without the risk of a traditional electronic connection.
The housing will retail for $3,600 and is expected to ship on June 1. For more info, make sure to visit the Nauticam USA website.
