After the arrival of the new Atomos Ninja V+ at the end of April, Nauticam has announced that its existing housings for the Atomos Ninja V—the NA-Ninja V and NA-Ninja V-S (accommodates AtomX SDI module)—are fully compatible with the new monitor/recorder.
That’s great news for users of cameras like the Canon EOS R5 or the Z Cam E2, as the Ninja V+ is capable of recording 8K/30p ProRes RAW as well as 4K/120p ProRes RAW. According to Nauticam, it’s especially good news for R5 owners, who will no longer have to “worry about recording limits or overheating issues.” While the R5’s heat dissipation issues aren’t likely to cause problems for underwater videographers anyway, since captured clips are very short in duration, passing recording duties to the Ninja V+ gives filmmakers extra peace of mind.
The NA-Ninja V and NA-Ninja V-S housings are available from Backscatter for $2,172 and $2,327, respectively.
