Mike Prickett, world famous underwater cinematographer, was shooting a commercial in Tahiti when he saw a fellow diver drowning in the water. When diving down to save his fellow diver, Prickett drained his air tank and was forced to immediately return to the surface without decompressing first.
Prickett suffers from severe decompression sickness and is experiencing paralysis from the waist down. He is being treated in a Papeete hospital, where he is undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy. At this point, Prickett has regained some sensation in his legs, but his condition remains serious.
As soon as it is safe, they hope to fly Prickett to see a specialist in either Australia or San Diego.
