For the first time in years, Light and Motion has announced support for a pro-sumer video camera in its Bluefin Housings- the Canon HF G10.
The rugged housing, constructed of aluminum and depth rated to 300 feet, is designed to give underwater photographers access to Canon’s large HD CMOS Pro 1/3 inch native 1920x1080 sensor. Other features of the housing include a “one-touch” white balance control, easy access to camera functions, and a flip color-correction filter to achieve proper color balance underwater.
"After several test dives it’s obvious the G10 produces superior video results we haven't seen in a HD compact video system. The G10 is in a class by itself,” says Paul Barnett, Domestic Sales Manager.
Light and Motion has also released a sample video composed of footage shot with this setup. More information can be found in the press release below or on the Light and Motion underwater video housings website.

Monterey, CA May 24, 2011- Canon’s new HF G10 brings prosumer video technology to a new compact package. As a result, for the first time in years, Light and Motion Industries is announcing support for a prosumer camcorder in their state-of-the-art Bluefin housing.
There have been tremendous leaps in technology allowing consumers to shoot video at a professional level. The latest in Canon’s high-quality line of camcorders, the G10 sports Canon’s large HD CMOS Pro 1/3 inch native 1920x1080 sensor, which provides excellent low-light performance and high-resolution images. It offers manual controls for many functions usually automated on camcorders of its size, including controls for its 8-bladed iris, gain and exposure settings, as well as white balance. Coupled with its ability to shoot frame rates ranging from 60i to 30p to Native 24p, the G10 is rapidly emerging as a powerful compact camcorder for underwater shooters.
"After several test dives it’s obvious the G10 produces superior video results we haven't seen in a HD compact video system. The G10 is in a class by itself,” says Paul Barnett, Domestic Sales Manager.
By supporting the prosumer Canon HF G10, Light and Motion’s compact and powerful Bluefin housing allows videographers to shoot underwater film without compromising performance. In addition to its compatibility with the housing itself, the G10 is also compatible with Light and Motion’s flagship Fathom 90 degree wide-angle lens, a full zoom-thru wide angle adapter with tack-sharp image quality from corner to corner. The combination of Canon’s high-quality lenses and sensors with Light and Motion’s advanced electronic controls and optics make for a winning combination for the serious underwater videographer.
