Lembeh Resort has announced the first-ever “Tentacle Festival” will take place from July 10–17 next year. The festival features cephalopod expert Bret Grasse, a professional aquarist and marine biologist who designed, opened and currently maintains the first-ever large-scale cephalopod exhibition in the world at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California.

Each day of the festival promises action-packed dives in Lembeh Strait and the opportunity to meet its rare cephalopods, including the mimic octopus, wunderpus, flamboyant cuttlefish, and blue-ring octopus. Daily presentations about octopus, cuttlefish and squid will be given by Bret, who will also talk about his work with the cephalopods at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

“I manage the largest and most diverse collection of cephalopods in the world, but I have only had the opportunity to see a few in their natural environment,” says Bret. “This expedition will allow me to observe many more animals I work with every day in the wild.”
