The iconic orange LaCie external hard drive line is getting larger with the addition of the upgraded Rugged RAID Pro. The biggest changes come in a shift to the faster, more reliable connection via USB-C via Thunderbolt 3 cable (backwards compatible).
As well, LaCie has added a built-in SD card reader. So, if you are shooting with a standard SD card, there’s no reason to have to carry around a card reader in addition to the backup drive. According to LaCie, transfer speeds max out at 240MB/s (when configured in a RAID 1 setup). Learn more about how to confirgure your workflow backup, here.
Old news, but still important: The Rugged drive is shock, dust, and water resistant. You can drop the hard drive from more than four feet without noticing any disturbance in performance, according to the company. The Rugged RAID Pro (4 TB) will be available later in 2018 with a price of $350. Learn more on the LaCie website.
