Keldan Announces Remote Controllable 8XR Video Lights
By Ian Bongso-Seldrup, March 29, 2022 @ 01:00 AM (EST)

Keldan has unveiled the Video 8XR, an updated version of its popular Video 8X lights. As the “R” in the name suggests, the new model is distinguished by its ability to be controlled remotely, like its big brothers, the 35,000-lumen Video 18XR and 45,000-lumen Video 24XR. The new light is a “mere” 20,000 lumens, an upgrade from the 18,000 lumens of the Video 8X (CRI 85), but with a similar color rendering index (CRI) of 86. The color temperature of the Video 8XR is unchanged at 5600K.

Like the Video 18XR and Video 24XR, the Video 8XR can be wirelessly controlled by Keldan’s RC1 remote control—the RC1 has two independent brightness channels, each of which can control an unlimited number of lights simultaneously. Like the other models in the Video 8X range, the new light has nine power settings, a beam angle of 110° in water, and a removable travel-safe 99Wh 14.4V Li-ion battery (below the per-battery maximum capacity of 100Wh allowed in carry-on baggage). The light can run at full power for up to 35 minutes on a full charge, which takes around 3–4 hours.

The Keldan Video 8XR is available from retailers such as Backscatter, priced at $2,428.

PRESS RELEASE

Remote Controllable Keldan 8XR 20000lm CRI86

After the big success with the 18XR and 24XR remote controllable lights in 2021, Keldan has announced the release of the 8XR.

At first glance, the 8XR looks identical to the Video 8X. What makes it special is the option to use it along with the Keldan RC-1 Remote Control, just like its big brothers 18XR and 24XR can do.

“The big thing was really to get all technical things inside a rather small space in order to make it remote controllable. It makes us happy having finally engineered it and release a 100% RC-1 compatible and reliable 8XR Compact Video Light”.

Apart from being remotely controllable, the light now comes with 20,000 Lumen and a CRI of 86.

The apparent advantages of the remote control option are:

  • No more swimming back and forth to adjust lighting when lighting up a scene
  • Fast and easy Remote control your lighting from within a distance of 50m
  • Place the lights wherever you want and adjust brightness from the Remote Controller
  • Connection works around the corner and through walls
  • Guaranteed new and more creative ways of shooting that were not possible before
  • Saves tremendous battery life as you can remotely turn lights individually (or together): On or Off

The 8XR is now available from Official Keldan Dealers.
