Join The Humane Society Protest To Stop The Canadian Seal Hunt
By Jason Heller, October 31, 2008 @ 02:00 AM (EST)

As most of our readers know, we have been working together with the Humane Society to create awareness of the actual and perceptual damage being done by the sharks tournaments around the country. Before they got involved in the shark issue, they were strong opponents of the Canadian Seal Hunt - another unnecessary atrocity against marine life. I just received the following from them and wanted to share it with our readers so some of you can join the protest at the Canadian embassy in Washington DC on November 10th.

Please join The Humane Society of the United States and America’s Next Top Model judge Nigel Barker at a demonstration at the Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C. Help let the Canadian government know that international outrage against the slaughter of seal pups for the fur trade is continuing to grow, despite its efforts to limit the ability of independent observers to view the killing.

Nigel Barker, world renowned photographer and "America's Next Top Model" judge, will be joining The HSUS at this protest. Nigel traveled to Canada this past March with The HSUS to photograph the baby seal nursery and document the hunt a few weeks later. Nigel’s passion to end the hunt is evident in his efforts to expose it and we are thrilled that he will be joining us!

Please mark your calendar and bring friends and family with you on November 10. We’ll have banners and posters, so you don't need to bring anything besides your concern for the seals.

Date: Monday, November 10, 2008
Time: Noon to 1 p.m.
Location: Canadian Embassy, 501 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. (near the Archives/Navy Memorial and Judiciary Square metro stops)
