The latest edition of Underwater Photography magazine—Issue 142—is now available as a free download.
As usual, the issue starts with a useful roundup of industry news and new imaging equipment. Highlights include the Sea&Sea MDX-R5II housing for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II, the Nauticam NA-R1 housing for the Canon EOS R1, the AOI UIS-P1 strobe, and the Nauticam SMC-3.
Peter Rowlands interviews wildlife cinematographer Roger Horrocks, who worked on My Octopus Teacher, Our Planet, Blue Planet II, and, the latest Netflix production narrated by Barrack Obama called Our Oceans. Phil Rudin makes use of his Sony a7R V in Marelux housing to review the Tamron 90mm F/2.8 Di III VXD macro lens (which is available for both Sony E mount and Nikon Z mount). There’s also a reproduction of Andrew McLachlan’s DPG article on Micro Four Thirds macro lenses.
If you enjoyed Matthew Sullivan’s review of BackscatterXTerminator on DPG, you’ll appreciate Kirsty Andrews’ assessment of the new software co-created by Lightroom guru Erin Quigley. (Spoiler: Kirsty reckons it’s a “game-changer”!) In addition, newbies have a couple of nice articles to check out: Jamie Hall talks about “basic skills” in underwater photography, while Ollie Clarke answers the question, “How do I get started in underwater photography?”
