Issue 141 of Underwater Photography Magazine Available
By DPG Editorial Staff, November 4, 2024 @ 12:30 AM (EST)

The latest edition of Underwater Photography magazine—Issue 141—is now available as a free download.

As usual, the issue starts with a handy roundup of industry news and new imaging equipment. Highlights include the Nauticam NA-A9III housing for the Sony a9 III, the Nauticam Cooling Fan System for their Canon EOS R5 Mark II housing, the Kraken Sports KR-S80 strobe, and the new Nauticam SMC-3 macro diopter. A new book is covered—Alexey Zaytsev’s Underwater Pictures with Olympus TG-6 (which is also perfect for TG-7 shooters)—and a new wildlife photography e-magazine called Wild Narrative, which is created by shooter Josh Blank.

On the gear review side, the issue contains Paul Duxfield’s interesting look at the OM System TG-7 in Ikelite’s unique housing-and-dome-port combo specially designed for the camera with the Olympus FCON-T02 fisheye converter lens (think TG over-unders!). Meanwhile, Phil Rudin tests out the Sigma 105mm F/2.8 DG DN Macro Art lens, Alexey Zaytsev offers an assessment of the Scubalamp Snoot (which can be used with a variety of strobes from different brands with the special adapters), and Peter Rowlands checks out the UW Camera Store Flip Snoot Pro, which is designed for the new Backscatter Hybrid Flash (HF-1).

To round things off, Peter Rowlands interviews award-winning underwater photographer Doug Perrine, showcasing some of his most spectacular images; and Peter Stenberg writes about the vessels that have fallen foul of the Abu Nuhas reef, where the Gulf of Suez meets the open Red Sea; among other articles. In case you were wondering, that moody cover shot is by Stenberg—a crocodilefish he encountered on one of his dives to the Red Sea’s Thistlegorm.
