iPhone App Created to Help Save Endangered Whales

The right whale, a species that is dangerously close to extinction, now has an unlikely ally: the Whale Alert app. Designed to be used by mariners sailing along the U.S. east coast, the app helps alert mariners to the presence of right whales.
Right whales are currently endangered, and scientists estimate that there are only a remaining 350 to 550 North Atlantic right whales left in the ocean. Collision with ships is a major cause of right whale death.
