When Wendy & I started DivePhotoGuide in 2004, we never expected it to grow into such a robust portal for a fast growing community of underwater photographers & videographers around the world. Last we checked, we have members in 162 different countries, probably including some we never heard of before. We are humbled by the feedback we regularly receive from members and we're happy to be able to positively contribute to the industry.
As DPG continues to grow, it's become increasingly difficult to juggle so many projects and responsibilities. We have to keep the website running, and always up-to-date with daily content, attend and cover trade shows, diving events, and underwater photo and film festivals around the world (ok that part is a lot of fun, but still hard work!), manage relationships with all of our partners and a plethora of other tasks (some that aren't so much fun). Last year we launched the NY Underwater Photographic Society (NYUPS), and through this special group, we met an ambitious aspiring marine biologist named Matt Weiss.
Matt is biology major at Skidmore College pursuing a career in Marine Biology. A diver for 7 years, he’s traveled to some of the best dive sites in the Caribbean and Asia and loves to photograph what he sees. Matt's a muck diving fanatic. He also is a web designer and a likes to sustainably breed tropical fish.
Matt has been instrumental in helping Wendy run the NYUPS events, and is the official website manager for NYUPS.org.
We don't often stop to give credit to people behind the scenes, but Matt has been helping Wendy update the daily news for DPG for the last few months (and a big hats off while we're at it to Wendy who is responsible for overseeing that DPG offer news every single day, a tremendous task).
We are proud to have Matt on our team, and you'll start to notice more articles, trip reports and event coverage from him throughout the year.
Feel free to post comments below and welcome Matt to the team!
