Introducing the Nauticam Fisheye Conversion Port (FCP)
By Ian Bongso-Seldrup, January 26, 2024 @ 06:00 AM (EST)

If you followed our DEMA exploits last year, you will have seen us chatting with Nauticam about their latest water-contact optic, the Fisheye Conversion Port, or FCP-1. While it’s yet to be officially released, we can get a better idea about this much-hyped lens from the latest information on the Nauticam website. Like other water-contact optics in the Nauticam range, such as the WACP-1 and WACP-2, the new FCP-1 is designed to convert the field of view of your attached lens to that of a fisheye lens.

As detailed in Nauticam’s port chart, the FCP works with zoom lenses that are 28mm at their widest and allows for the full zoom range to be used. Suitable lenses include the Sony FE 28–60mm f/4–5.6, Canon RF 24–50mm f/4.5–6.3 and Nikon Z 24–50mm f/4–6.3. There is also the option of creating a circular fisheye if the FCP is used with super-wide lenses. For example, according to Nauticam, the Sony FE 14mm f/1.8, Canon RF 14–35mm f/4 and Nikon Z 14–30mm f/4 all produce a circular fisheye at 14mm. Featuring an integrated float collar and removable shade, the FCP is compatible with both N120 and N100 port mounts.

Available for pre-order from Backscatter, the Nauticam Fisheye Conversion Port is priced at $6,941. Keep an eye out for regular DPG contributor Nicolas Remy’s review of the FCP coming out in February.

Much like most of our Water Contact Optics the FCP-1 can focus from its front element to infinity in-water allowing for extremely close-focus fish-eye shooting. Depending on your lens choice you will have a variety of field of view options when zooming through various focal lengths.

Buoyancy Collar

An aluminum float collar is integrated into the FCP-1 and brings the in-water buoyancy 0.4kg negative.

Compatible Lenses

The FCP-1 is designed to function at the full-frame equivalent focal length of 28mm. A wide variety of lenses are supported, both primes and zooms for Nikon, Canon and Sony as well as Super35 Cinema Systems. Please check the PORT CHART for supported lenses and suggested configurations as some lenses will require extension rings or adapters.
