Inon has announced the availability of their “Underwater Tripod System,” which we first glimpsed a peek of at DEMA. The system is composed of the “UW Tripod Hub” and the “UW 3-Way Panhead”—these two elements work together but are sold separately.
The tripod can be built by combining these two accessories with Inon’s collection of underwater strobe arms such as the stick-style and telescoping carbon fiber models. The tripod is designed to work with camera housings of all levels—from compact to DSLR.
Underwater tripods serve several uses for underwater imaging. For videography, they are a critical tool for producing smooth, non-shaky footage of macro subjects. Addition of the UW 3-Way Panhead will be useful for underwater videography. For still imaging, they can be useful for long exposures or trying out some self-modeling.
If you want to create your own underwater tripod using the Inon Underwater Tripod system, then we suggest checking out the compatibility guide with various arms (PDF). Learn more on the Inon website.
