When it comes to traveling light, non-metal housings like those from Ikelite definitely have the edge. Indeed, the U.S. company’s housings and ports are so lightweight that some setups—depending on the camera and lens combo you’re using—may well be slightly positiviely buoyant. In such cases, users may find that adding a little weight will make the system easier and more comfortable to shoot. Enter Ikelite’s new Trim Weight System, available for DL mirrorless/DLSR housings or compact DLM mirrorless/DSLR housings.
The Trim Weight System can be quickly and easily screwed into the aluminum base of Ikelite’s modular tray system via a large soft-touch knob, and the position of the weight can be adjusted forwards or backwards to find the optimum balance based on the port being used. The Trim Weight System can make use of a standard scuba weight—borrowed from the dive shop at your destination rather than adding it to your luggage. Standard dive weights up to 5lb (2.3kg) can be used.
Priced at $95, the Trim Weight System for DL or for compact DLM mirrorless/DSLR housings is available from retailers such as Backscatter.
