Ikelite Announces Housing for the Nikon ZR Cinema Camera
By DPG Editorial Staff, November 24, 2025 @ 08:30 AM (EST)

Ikelite has unveiled its housing for the Nikon ZR—the compact cinema camera that’s proving a hit with filmmakers on a budget. Boasting a partially-stacked 24.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor, the Nikon ZR can record 6K/60p in 12-bit RAW and 4K/60p with no crop as well as 4K/120p using the DX portion of the sensor.

While the ZR is also capable of shooting stills and syncing flash, Ikelite is clearly aiming their new housing squarely at videographers. To tackle the issue of battery life, the housing comes with Ikelite’s USB-C Charging & Data Transfer Bulkhead installed, so if you need to add a bit more juice between dives, you can easily plug in a power bank. There are mounting rails on the back of the housing for an optional LCD hood, allowing the ZR’s 4-inch to be viewed clearly even in bright, sunny conditions. And if you do want to add an external monitor—whether via HDMI 1.4 or HDMI 2.0—the housing offers both M16 and M24 ports.

Hybrid shooters, fret not, though: Ikelite do also give you the option of adding a flash bulkhead and hooking up a pair of strobes, either via electrical sync cords or fiber-optic cables.

Available from retailers such as Backscatter, the Ikelite Nikon ZR housing is priced at $1,995.

200DL Underwater Housing for Nikon ZR 6K Cinema Camera

$ 1,995.00

The Nikon ZR 6K Cinema Camera is one of the most highly anticipated new video cameras ever, with its emblematic Red co-branding, compact form factor, and affordable price tag. It features a 24.5 megapixel ‘partially Stacked’ CMOS sensor, R3D (NE) Raw video codec, 7.5EV in-body image stabilization (IBIS), and up to 6K 60p video resolution. This powerful camera is already a favorite among cinematographers around the world and is perhaps one of the greatest video cameras to ever hit the water.

200DL Underwater Housing

This is a full featured and durable waterproof housing for Nikon ZR cinema cameras. Suitable for scuba, snorkel, surf, pool, and any application in or around the water.

The housing provides full creative control over the camera including the rear joystick and control dials. Our custom ABS-PC blend is lighter than aluminum yet strong enough for almost anything you want to throw at it.

A massive selection of both native Nikon Z-mount and F-mount lenses (with FTZ adapter) can be used with our series of optical grade acrylic domes and glass flat ports. Zoom gears are available for most popular lenses and driven by a large, ergonomic soft-touch lobed control on the left side of the housing.

Always Be Shooting

The first-of-its-kind USB-C Bulkhead allows you to top off the battery without removing your camera from the housing. Bring a power bank onto the boat for quick charges in-between dives without risking opening and closing the system.

Endless Expandability

We find that the enormous 4" 3.07M dot rear LCD display perfectly suits our shooting needs. An optional LCD hood (sold separately) attaches easily to the rear mounting rails on the back of the housing to protect against the annoying glare when shooting in shallow, sunny conditions.

If you need to add an external monitor, integrated M16 and M24 accessory ports are built-in and ready to attach a third party accessory.

If you plan to capture some stills while you're under, it's simple to add a flash bulkhead and hotshoe or fiber optic trigger.

The Ultimate Assurance

Our housings uniquely allow you to see your camera inside, making it easier to adapt to using it inside of a housing. Use the vacuum leak detection system allows you to check the housing prior to entering the water.

Every housing is built in the USA, checked with a camera, and water pressure tested to 200 feet (60 meters) before it makes its way from us to you.

  • Controls: Controls are provided for everything except the electronic Zoom control. Most zoom lenses can be controlled using a compatible gear driven by the large, ergonomic control on the left side of the housing.
  • Strobe Connector: Ikelite Bulkhead with Manual Hotshoe
  • Port Mount: DL (Dry Lock)
  • Depth Rating: 200 feet (60 meters)
  • Rear O-Ring: 0132.59
  • Front O-Ring: 0132.45

Pre-Dive Checks

There is no greater assurance than being able to see your camera and o-ring seal through the back of the housing. Our signature open-groove design suspends the rear o-ring in a natural position that is easier to maintain and more reliable than forcing the o-ring into a channel. Once the housing is closed you can see the o-ring form a solid, waterproof seal.

We recommend using a pump with gauge to pull a vacuum on the housing and check for leaks prior to entering the water.

Construction

Our specially formulated ABS-PC blend housing is highly durable yet significantly lighter than aluminum. The light color keeps your camera cooler when shooting in warm, sunny environments.

Lens Support

Ikelite lens ports are the lightest on the market, yet robust and capable of standing up to rough surf.

We support a wide variety of lenses. Most popular zoom lenses and select focus rings can be engaged using simple gearing that puts adjustment right at your fingertips. Zoom and focus gears differ depending on which lens you are using.

Lens ports and zoom gears sold separately. Refer to the appropriate port chart for compatibility information.

Wi-Fi Transfer

Use the camera's built-in Wi-Fi feature to download photos to another device without removing the camera from the housing. The Wi-Fi feature is only usable above water within close proximity to the connected device.

Compatibility

Unless otherwise noted, this housing does not accommodate the use of add-on grips, battery grips, eyepieces, LCD covers, or other accessories.

Differences in lens and control placement prevent other camera models from being used in or adapted to this housing. We are not aware of any other models which may be used in or adapted to this housing.
