This week, “Give ‘Em Fin!” is going viral in the underwater community and beyond. The shark conservation awareness campaign organized by Sea Save is asking shark lovers to show their support by “giving fin.” Thousands of participants are posing as sharks with their hands above their head in fin formation to show support for shark conservation.

The goal is to accrue enough individual pictures to form a massive mosaic that depicts a whale shark, manta ray, and hammerhead shark. When complete, the mosaic will feature 20,000 images—a demonstration of mass support at the upcoming CITES meeting in South Africa. CITES (Convention on International Trade and Endangered Species) will meet to make important decisions regarding the protection of sharks and rays.
