Today, Gates Underwater Products anno unced the DEEP EPIC- their latest professional-level underwater video housings.

After being “shrouded” in development for a long time, the new DEEP EPIC was introduced today as the follow up to DEEP RED, with standard gates features such as a 450-foot depth rating and two-year warranty. The new housing is 25 percent smaller than DEEP RED while also featuring “REDMOTE” for complete control of the camera system.

Other key features include the 5.6” external monitor and seal check –also found on the DEEP RED- choice between mechanical or motorized zoom control, and optional HD-SDI surface or second monitor feed, with Comm/Hydrophone audio inputs.

The DEEP EPIC is set to be priced at under $20,000- a kit that includes the housing, external monitor shell, Seal Check, REDMOTE support, Travel Case, with ports and accessories available at extra cost.

The current delivery date for DEEP EPIC is estimated at late summer 2011. More information, along with the full press release, can be found on the Gates’ Website.
