Nikon has released their latest full-frame DSLR: the D850. Packed with some impressive features, the camera boasts high resolution and speed with its 45.7-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, 7fps continuous shooting with autofocus (9fps when coupled with the optional battery grip), and Expeed 5 processing engine. With the 153-point AF system borrowed from the flagship D5, and an ISO range from 64 to 25,600 (expandable to 32–102,400), the D850 appears to be a powerful tool.

The video capabilities of the D850 won’t disappoint either, with 4K UHD video capture at 24p and 30p, from the full width of the sensor, and uncompressed 4:2:2 8-bit 4K output via the HDMI socket. Videographers will also appreciate the inclusion of zebra stripes and focus peaking. The weather sealed, magnesium-alloy body also has a tilting 3.2" 2.36M-dot touchscreen, illuminated controls, and dual memory slots for both SD and XQD cards.

The Nikon D850 will be available in September for $3,300.

The Nikon D850 is the new benchmark in DSLR image quality, with an unprecedented combination of resolution, dynamic range, ISO and processing power. The 45.7-megapixel CMOS sensor approaches medium format-level resolution and forgoes an optical low pass filter (OLPF) to harness the maximum sharpness of NIKKOR lenses, with fantastic fidelity, tonality and clarity. This is also Nikon’s first DSLR to incorporate a BSI CMOS sensor, which captures light more efficiently, resulting in a wider dynamic range and low-noise image capture.
