Back in November, photo gear website DPReview named the Best High-End Interchangeable Lens Camera (ILC) of 2020—the Canon EOS R5. Now, it seems Canon’s ambitious strategy of going all-in with 8K video has charmed the website’s readers as well: the EOS R5 has scored Product of the Year in the DPReview’s Readers’ Choice Awards.
In case you were wondering, the Fujifilm X-T4 took the runner-up spot, while the third place was shared by the Sony FE 12–24mm f/2.8 high-end G Master lens—a potentially excellent lens for underwater imaging—and the big and bulky Nikon Z 50mm f/1.2 S prime lens, which, well, not many people are going to be taking underwater…
Housing manufacturers haven’t wasted any time supporting the EOS R5, with options from Ikelite, Nauticam and Sea&Sea available already, and no doubt with more to come. Check out DPG’s Underwater Photo and Video Holiday Gift Guide 2020 for our recommendations for more great imaging products.
