By DPG Editorial Staff, September 7, 2012 @ 06:20 PM (EST)

If you're in NYC next week, make sure to check out DPG Associate Editor Joe Tepper speaking to the New York Underwater Photo Society.

Joseph will talk about his trip "Around the Indo-Pacific in 40 Days" and why this area of the world is a must for any underwater photographer. Learn about the fantastic underwater photography oppertunities in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, along with the techniques to capture some great shots!

The meeting is this upcoming Tuesday, September 11, at 7PM at the Arctica Bar (3rd Ave and 27th). For more details, check out the NYUPS announcement below or visit the NEW NYUPS website! Look forward to seeing you there and sharing photos, stories and drinks!

RELEASE:

At September’s NYUPS join photojournalist Joe Tepper as he recounts and regales the crowd with the epic adventure of his recent 40-day Indo-Pacific assignment. For more than six weeks Joe traversed the most diverse stretch of ocean: the Pacific’s coral triangle.

From the alienesque creatures of North Sulawesi’s Lembeh, to the mammoth coral of Papua New Guinea’s Kimbe Bay, and the sloping lava shoreline of Bali, Joe had it all. Learn why these locations are absolutely top on any underwater photographer’s wish list as Joe shares his images and techniques for capturing picturesque and rare subjects: WW2 plane wrecks, crocodiles, car-sized sea fans, silvertip sharks, pygmy seahorses, blue ringed octopus, and so so so much more….

So whether you are a first time underwater photographer or have been a shutterbug for years, you are guaranteed to leave September’s meeting with an urge to book a one-way ticket to the edge of the world.

About the Speaker: Joseph Tepper is the Associate Editor for Divephotoguide.com and Scuba Diver-Through the Lens, the world’s first global underwater photo print magazine. Although only 20 years old, Joseph has been exploring and photographing the world’s oceans for nearly a decade. When not contributing to DPG, Joseph attends New York University for journalism and anthropology, and writes for the NY Daily News.

(PLEASE NOTE: September’s meeting is the SECOND Tuesday of the month!)
