Divers exploring the Antikythera shipwreck in Greece will use the revolutionary “Exosuit” for the first time and recently posted a video on YouTube with the diving suit on display.
The Exosuit, which is made of metal and weighs a whopping 530 lbs, can stay underwater for hours without putting the diver at risk of decompression sickness. It’s also equipped with thrusters that allow the diver to move around.
The Antikythera shipwreck was discovered in the Aegean Sea in 1900 and was eventually explored again by famed ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau. Jewelry, fragments of statues, an early astronomical calculator, and other artifacts were recovered over the years, but experts believe that more artifacts are still hidden in the wreck.
By using the Exosuit along with other cutting-edge technology, divers hope to find out more about mysterious wreck.
