Well...we hit a milestone last week - our 100th pro gallery. We're pretty psyched!
That's 100 of the best, most prolific, talented and inspirational, underwater photographers in the world. We set out to develop THE gallery of all underwater photo galleries - a way to feature the top pros, the image makers whose images transcend time and place and touch our emotions.
We say a very heartfelt and humbled "thank you" to all the photographers who have helped to make the DPG Galleries one of the most unique and special anywhere, online or offline.
Through their imagery, these photographers have helped make DivePhotoGuide, and the world, a better place. Yes - the world. All of the photographers featured in our galleries have created images for editorial and/or advertising, which has helped to directly or indirectly create increased awareness and appreciation of the underwater world.
The work displayed in our galleries is as diverse as the colors of a coral reef. They range from wildlife to fashion and everything in between, and the imagery spans every marine related corner of the globe. The featured photographers are true artists in every sense. They have mastered the art of documenting the brilliance, the diversity, the oddities, the stories, and the humble and subtle beauty that water conveys, in striking perspective.
Of course, we will continue to feature more top professional photographers in our pro galleries. It's been more than a pleasure developing the DPG Galleries. The best part about the whole process is that not only are we working with extraordinarily talented artists, but also with great people, and we now have many new friends that share a similar passion for underwater imagery.
We are also pleased to pre-announce that by November, we will be accepting submissions for our new "Member Galleries", which will feature the best non-professional shooters. From the emails we regularly receive from members, we know there is a lot of talent out there! We're going to give the community a place to shine, to continue in the footsteps of the pro galleries, and to show the world 'what you got'.
But today our thanks go out to all the amazing photographers that have made the DPG pro galleries what they are today. Your images leave a lasting impression on everyone. You are inspiration to us all.
- Jason & Wendy Heller, and the entire DPG team
