DEMA 2008: Light and Motion
By Matt J. Weiss, October 29, 2008 @ 02:00 AM (EST)
Light and Motion had a few goodies to show us at DEMA
this year. One really cool new item Paul Barnett showed us was the new
OLED screen on the Bluefin2 . The OLED screen, or, organic LED monitor,
is usually utilized in cell phones and flat screen televisions, but for
the first time it's being used for their video housing monitors.
Replacing the LCD monitor that has bigger pixels, the OLED's high
resolution allows you to see exactly what is in focus because unlike in
still images where a slightly less crisp shot may pass, video is
unforgiving.

The new OLED monitor system will undoubtly be a huge advancement in underwater videography
Paul also showed us the new internal flip macro diopters and color filters being used in the Bluefin2 housings. The macro filter allow you to focus and fill the frame with a subject about 5/8 of an inch across.

Another new product on display was the brand new Fathoms Imaging 90 and 110 degree wide angle lenses.
