DEMA 2008: Equinox
By Matt J. Weiss, October 30, 2008 @ 02:00 AM (EST)
Equinox was also situated outside the photo pavilion but was worth the walk over there. They were showcasing two kinds of very distinct looking housings, a very reasonably priced consumer end housing and a professional housing.
The HD6 retails for about $949 making it one of the least expensive housings on the market. What’s really cool about this housing it that it fits every HD handheld camcorder on the market. They achieve this by making the basic frame and then retrofitting the wiring and controls for each specific camera. They stock the most popular models and will custom make a housing for ones that they don’t have in inventory.
Also on display was the higher end model for professional use, the HD10. The housing has a similar Equinox typical design but has many more features and works for the Sony Z series, Panasonic HVX200/P2, and Canon XH or XL series.
Also, they were handing out pretty fly t-shirts. Free gifts are always a good thing.
