DEMA 2008: Aquatica
By Matt J. Weiss, October 25, 2008 @ 02:00 AM (EST)

Aquatica was displaying some new housings since the last time I saw them at BTS. The most exciting one for me to see was the Nikon D700 housing. It was the first D700 housing I have seen so far. As most of you know already, the D700 is Nikon's more compact full frame camera & the Aquatica housing provides a really good fit. I was having camera & housing envy. The housing sports a new look for Aquatica because it’s a machined block of solid aluminum. It also features a cool o-ring design. The shape of the housing helps hold the o-ring in place, which will help it from popping out and causing a flood.

Another cool item that was released earlier this year that I had wanted to see in person was the underwater trigger remote. It attaches to one of the bulkheads and will soon be incorporated with a pole cam and a 6” LCD screen. I really want one of these!

No, he's not trying to blow up DEMA...Blake from Aquatica shows us the trigger remote.

It seems the buoyancy floats that Aquatica released at last year's DEMA show have become a big hit for them. The Aquafloats which offers 1 lb of lift.
