DEMA 2007: Poseidon Rebreathers
By Jason Heller, November 6, 2007 @ 02:00 AM (EST)

Pete Symes from X-Ray Mag brought me over to the Poseidon booth, where they had on display their new CIS-Lunar Mk VI rebreather. I’m glad he did, this is a cool toy that I may just need to have for myself! I’ve been considering rebreathers for some time now specifically for hammerheads and other skittish creatures that can far more approachable when utilizing rebreathers.

This new Poseidon unit is truly a breakthrough as it is (to a large degree) a “plug & go” system. It’s small and light, and I guess somewhat easy to travel with (of course this is all relative depending on how much you’re used to lugging around the globe). The replaceable canister lasts at least 300 minutes, and we were told that when it’s time to clean the unit, you can take it apart and simply put the compact main compartment in the dishwasher. The rechargeable battery unit can be charged through a normal outlet or with the car charging adaptor. It has a handy LCD display that allows you to monitor battery run down time as well.

If you’re thinking about traveling with a rebreather, I would definitely check out this new model from Poseidon.
