Deepblu Announces COSMIQ+ Dive Computer at DEMA
By Ian Bongso-Seldrup, November 16, 2016 @ 10:00 AM (EST)

Deepblu has unveiled an upgraded version of its COSMIQ dive computer at this year’s DEMA Show. The COSMIQ+ shares its core hardware features with its predecessor, including a 2.2-inch display and rechargeable battery, and syncs wirelessly with the Deepblu app, allowing divers to upload dive data directly to their smartphones and create interactive digital dive logs enhanced with images and video clips.

Where the original COSMIQ was aimed at recreational divers, the COSMIQ+ features a new Bottom Timer Mode aimed at tech divers using the computer as a secondary device. The bottom timer setting measures current depth, average depth, continuous dive time and a secondary dive time.

The new COSMIQ+ is available in five colors and is priced the same as its predecessor: $299. The dive computer will be available from November 25th (Black Friday) in North America, and in December in other markets.

PRESS RELEASE

Deepblu Announces Release of COSMIQ+
COSMIQ+ Brings an Explosion of Color and a New Function for Tech Divers

The company who built the world’s first dive computer featuring social integration has upgraded its innovative product line with a new addition: the COSMIQ+. Debuted at the 2016 DEMA Show in Las Vegas, the COSMIQ+ introduces a brand new performance feature for technical divers in five gorgeous colors. Staying true to its roots as the best price-to-performance dive computer on the market, COSMIQ+ is priced at the same $299 USD as its COSMIQ predecessor.

Company co-founder and CEO James Tsuei elaborates, “Constant improvement is the company ethos at Deepblu, and COSMIQ+ stays true to this goal by enhancing your diving experience.”

COSMIQ+ is a refresh of Deepblu’s original dive computer, the COSMIQ, building on all of its existing features, including a 2.2-inch LCD display, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and free firmware upgrades—all while delivering a new bottom timer setting. This feature specifically targets the needs of technical divers for a secondary device and expands Deepblu’s customer base to include an important niche in the diving community.

The Bottom Timer Mode replaces the existing Gauge Mode and includes the following measurements: current depth, average depth, continuous dive time and a secondary dive time. The average depth and secondary dive time can both be reset with the press of a button. Tech divers using COSMIQ+ as a secondary device will be able to utilize these features during staged decompression stops.

Made up of two distinct color families—Noir and Lumin—the COSMIQ+ is available in a total of 5 different colors. The Noir line encompasses the existing colors Cosmic Black and Lava Red, and is delivered in the same sleek black housing as its predecessor. The new Lumin line comes in three news colors—Lilac Purple, Steel Grey, and Ocean Blue—but with a new white housing.

“Design and user experience have been core concepts of our company since inception,” Tsuei adds, “with the Noir and Lumin lines, we’re upgrading customer experience with the ability to individualize dive computer colors with five distinct options.”

Slated for a Black Friday (November 25th, 2016) release in North America, the COSMIQ+ will be available globally in December 2016.
