A new crustacean species, the squat lobster, was discovered off the coast of Spain in an underwater mountainous region. At just over two inches, the orange animal is actually more closely related to the porcelain and hermit crabs rather than to true lobsters.

Researchers have found genetic differences between two populations of great white sharks previously thought to be genetically alike. They found that sharks west of the Bass Strait differ from those on the eastern seaboard of Australia, a finding that could affect conservation efforts.
