The 2007 DEMA show was a lot of fun this year. We got to see and play with the newest diving and underwater photography gear, we learned about new destinations and shooting opportunities, spent time with old friends, and even coordinated a few new projects, including a special collaboration on an Antarctica underwater photo & video trip scheduled for Feb 2010

David Doubilet was one of two recipients of the 2007 DEMA Reaching Out Awards. David, along with dive industry legend Bob Soto, were honored in recognition of their significant contributions to the sport of scuba diving. The DEMA Reaching Out Awards are akin to the diving Hall of Fame. DivePhotoGuide was there covering the award ceremony

Gates had on display their solid-built mechanical housings for the high end Canon XH-A1/G1 cameras, as well as housings for the more popular prosumer Sony HC-7. The Sony HC-3 was a very popular cameras and housing combo, and the successor HC-7 may be even more so

Housings for the Canon 40D, and the new Olympus E-410 & E-510 are available now, and apparently they're working on a housing for the Olympus E-3 and the Nikon D300. Ikelite also had a new strobe on display, the Autoflash AF35 System

Inon has been known for compact strobes with multiple power settings. They've become quite popular among many underwater photographers. However, over the last year or so , Inon has been slowly expanding into the housing and accessories markets as well.

I stopped by the Nexus booth to visit Lee Peterson or Marine Camera Distributors and Joe Holly from Marine Visions. Since I shoot Nexus housings myself, I was particularly interested in hearing about the Nikon D300 and D3 housings.But I was equally as excited to learn that Nexus had a prototype for the new Olympus E-3 SLR
