Canon has announced a firmware update for its XF300 and XF305 professional-level camcorders that enables 3D HD Video Capture Assist, along with other new features.

The firmware update upgrades the XF300 series of camcorders to include Canon's 3D Assist Function that allows two units to be easily set up for 3D HD video, as well as an updated Scan Reverse function, Double Slot Recording for instantaneous backup, and the option to disable Relay Recording.

"Our professional imaging equipment continues to offer cutting-edge features and capabilities that professionals need in the field and helps open new doorways to endless possibilities for creative expression," said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president and general manager for Canon USA.

You can check out the new 3D capabilities of shooting with two cameras and the new firmware at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) in Las Vegas Convention Center from April 11-14. More information can also be found in the official press release on Canon’s website.
