Alongside the announcement of the much-anticipated EOS R3, Canon has unveiled two “budget-friendly” RF-mount lenses: the RF16mm f/2.8 STM and the—less-useful-for-underwater-shooting—RF100–400mm f/5.6–8 IS USM.

A very compact 1.6 x 2.7in (40 x 69mm) and weighing in at just 5.8oz (165g), the ultra-wide lens has nine elements in seven groups and seven aperture blades, and makes use of a Super Spectra Coating to combat flare and ghosting. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 5.11in (13cm) and a front filter diameter of 43mm.

The RF16mm f/2.8 STM will be available from October, priced at $299.
