Canon Announces Rebel T2i
By Jason Heller, February 8, 2010 @ 05:15 PM (EST)
As predicted, Canon has extended its popular Rebel line with the Rebel T2i (EOS 550D).. The T2i provides some very intriguing upgrades to line.

The highlights of the system are full 1080p HD video recording with manual controls, an 18mp sensor and the same 63-point iFCL metering system used in the EOS 7D. In fact, the 18mp CMOS sensor is supposed to be pretty similar to the popular EOS 7D, as well. Other improvements include better low light shooting with ISO 6400 no longer in expanded range, and EV compensation can be up +/- 5 now. Additionally, you can set your max auto ISO so that you can control the noise levels of your image. There was no word of an MSRP but it's on Amazon for $899.00 for the body.

It's nice to see significant upgrades in a line in a world of where camera releases are so plentiful it can be hard to tell the difference between models. The low price, ease of use and nice specs of this camera promise to make it a very popular choice for underwater photographers.
