Never underestimate the amazing nature that makes its home in our backyards. That’s the lesson that becomes clear when looking at the stunning winning images from this year’s British Wildlife Photography Awards.

The contest amasses thousands of entries each year from native UK photographers photographing the area’s natural beauty. Top images from this year’s pool include shots from underwater photographers Alex Mustard and Alex Tattersall. The overall winning shot was another underwater beauty: diving gannets captured by Dr. Matt Doggett.
