Bizarre Sponges Discovered In Deep Hawaiin Waters

For those of you who really like all of the ocean world, sponges included, here is some  interesting news out of Hawaii.

Marine researches have recently returned from an expedition to the Northwestern Islands of Hawaii and captured photos and HD video of some bizarre deep-sea sponges.

The discoveries were made form a two submersibles about a mile down into the ocean. Sponges don't do it for everyone, but these are pretty weird. I also enjoyed thinking what it would be like to come across the 15 foot tall corals they saw.

For more on the expedition, the Honolulu Advertiser covered it with an article, a video and a photo gallery.
