Editor's Note-
As mentioned on the coverage homepage, this year we will be providing video coverage of the 2009 Beneath The Sea Show. In the first episode Rick Morris finds out about Wetpixel Quarterly, the new Sealife DC-1000 and an interview with Evan Kovacs of Woods Hole. Wetpixel had a great booth displaying their beautiful quarterly publication, Wetpixel Quarterly. At the Sealife booth,we were shown the new DC-1000 which looks like a great camera for beginners because of the very innovative feature called the easy set-up mode. Lastly, Wendy interviews Evan Kovacs about the really interesting new underwater imagery happenings at Woods Hole. Now, I will turn the page over to Rick who begins his coverage with some opening remarks.

Every year, during the last weekend of March, thousands of divers, dive equipment manufacturers, travel destinations, educators and dignitaries converge on Secaucus, NJ for “Beneath the Sea”. This convention, that was first held in Westchester, NY, has grown in size and stature such that it is now the largest and most well attended consumer dive show in the entire country.
The show also features an outstanding film festival, promotes education for children, scholarships, and benefits for medical services and facilities development.
Another draw for this show is the participation of some of the most notable figures in the diving industry and this year was no exception with David Doubilet, National Geographic Photo Guru, serving as the MC for the film festival.
Since DPG is one of the largest underwater imaging websites on the net we felt it would be a great opportunity to highlight some of the new innovations in imaging gear, many of which aren’t even out yet and feature some of the true legends of the industry like Stan Waterman, the dean of underwater films and Zale Parry, the goddess of Sea Hunt and first femme fatal of the diving industry
