Backscatter has unveiled their M52 Wide Angle Lens, specially designed for the Olympus Tough TG-5. Demonstrated during the recent Digital Shootout, the new wide-angle lens extends the camera’s field of view from 60 degrees to 120 degrees, opening up the possibility to shoot large subjects like reef scenes, big animals and wrecks. While the lens is designed to mount on the 52mm threaded port of the Olympus PT-058 housing, it will complement many other compact cameras in housings with similar ports.
According to Backscatter, when the camera’s lens is set to full wide, the attachment produces no vignetting and it’s also possible to zoom through for tighter shots. The lens’ optical elements have anti-reflection coatings, and sharpness is maintained out to the corners of the frame.
Shipping now for $399, the lens includes a dome cover, rear lens cap, and travel case.
