Backscatter Publishes Review of Olympus E-PL10 Camera and Housing
By Ian Bongso-Seldrup, October 6, 2020 @ 08:00 AM (EST)

If you’ve already spent countless hours joyously photographing all creatures great and small (and really tiny) with your amazing Olympus TG-6—or one of its equally-awesome predecessors—you may be wondering where you progress from here. How do you go to the next level of performance without breaking the bank or overcomplicating your shooting experience? As they detail in their latest review, Backscatter reckons the answer lies in the shape of the Olympus PEN E-PL10 camera—in combination with the imaging gear retailer’s latest product, the Backscatter E-PL10 Octo housing.

Great value? Check! For $1,350—$700 for the camera (with bundled 14–42mm EZ) and $650 for the housing—you’ll have everything you need to start shooting, since the housing comes with the zoom gear and flat port you need, O-ring grease and spare O-rings, and even vacuum pump, among many other things. Great style? Check! A limited edition version of AOI’s housing for the E-PL10, the Backscatter housing is a uniquely awesome tentacle-wrapped affair that earns its “Octo” moniker with aplomb!

So what about the all-important questions of performance and ease of use? Well, for that, we encourage you to read (or watch) Backscatter’s full review: From side-by-side comparisons with the TG-series cameras, through the pros and cons of the extensive lens and wet lens options, to analyses of features and capabilities—image quality, autofocus, white balance, manual control, 4K video, burst shooting with the housing’s built-in LED flash trigger, accessories, and so on—everything you can think of, and even some things you won’t, is covered.

Finally, of course, there’s a fantastic selection of inspiring images to demonstrate the quality and variety of results that are possible with the E-PL10 and Backscatter’s eye-catching housing. Yeah, we know you might be grounded right now, but if you want to take your images to the next level when things open up again, there’s no harm in gifting yourself an early Christmas present, is there?
