As you’ve probably noticed from the lack of equipment reviews, testing camera gear hasn’t been too easy of late. But for some, the show must go on, and our equipment partner Backscatter has been busy helping out the Georgia Aquarium with their requirements for a new underwater video system—the Z Cam E2 in Nauticam’s housing—for use with the aquarium’s new “Sharks, Predators of the Deep” habitat. The 4K cinema camera fits the bill nicely as it allows videographers to shoot with the camera or it can also be mounted in the habitat and controlled remotely.
In their article documenting the experience, Backscatter chats to videographer Chris Miller about the project, the challenges of shooting in the aquarium, gear, equipment maintenance, conservation, and more. You can also check out the slick video Chris put together with their test rig.
