News
Aquatica has unveiled its new housing for the a7R Mark VI—the latest model in Sony’s full-frame Alpha 7 series. Boasting a new fully stacked 66.8MP sensor and the latest Bionz XR2 processor, the camera delivers blackout-free 30fps continuous shooting with the electronic shutter, 8K/30p video (with only a slight 1.2x crop), oversampled 4K/60p full-width recording, and 4K/120p 10-bit video with no crop.
Aquatica’s A7R VI housing is made from “aerospace-grade” aluminum with an anodized coating and baked-on powder coated paint, and features self-centering and spring-loaded controls. A total of 19 knobs, dials and buttons are ergonomically arranged around the integrated grips.
The housing features an M24 bulkhead for hooking up external monitors and monitor-recorders, and the company’s Surveyor Vacuum System comes installed as standard. Three strobe connection configurations are available: dual Nikonos connectors, single Ikelite connector, or dual optical connectors with LED trigger.
Available from retailers such as Backscatter, the Aquatica A7R VI housing has an MSRP of $4,230.

PRODUCT INFORMATION
A7r VI Housing
$4,230 USD
The Aquatica A7R VI (#30004) is Aquatica's professional underwater housing for the Sony a7R VI full-frame mirrorless camera. CNC machined from aerospace-grade 6061 T6 aluminum with a MIL-A-8625 anodized coating and baked-on powder coat finish, the A7R VI delivers the ergonomics, control accessibility, and rugged build quality Aquatica is known for — purpose-built around the a7R VI's 66.8MP resolution, 8K video, and 30 fps continuous shooting capability.
Built around the Sony a7R VI
The Sony a7R VI is the highest-resolution full-frame camera available, combining a 66.8MP fully stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor with 8K 30p and full-width 4K 120p video in 10-bit, up to 30 fps burst shooting at full resolution, 16 stops of dynamic range, and a 9.44M-dot HDR-capable EVF. The Aquatica A7R VI housing is engineered to bring all of that capability underwater without compromise — providing access to every key control from behind the housing in any dive condition.
Materials & construction
The A7R VI housing shell is machined from 6061 T6 aluminum — the same aerospace-grade alloy used across Aquatica's entire lineup — and finished with a MIL-A-8625 anodized coating followed by a baked-on, abrasion-resistant powder coat paint. All control shafts and push buttons are machined from T304 stainless steel. The result is a housing built to withstand the demands of heavy field use, repeated salt water exposure, and thousands of dives.
Full ergonomic control access
The A7R VI housing provides dedicated access to 19 camera controls, all self-centering, spring-loaded, and positioned for gloved or bare-hand operation in cold or warm water: On/Off, shutter, C1, C2, front dial, AF-On, record/movie, AEL, mode dial, exposure compensation dial, rear dial, multi-selector, Fn button, control wheel, C4/Delete, zoom/focus knob, menu, C3, and playback. No function is buried or inaccessible — critical controls are where your hands naturally rest on the grips. Simply set the camera on the tray and slide it into the housing; no alignment needed.
Surveyor vacuum system included as standard
The complete Surveyor Vacuum System (pump, valve, and sensor) is included with every A7R VI housing. The sensor doubles as a moisture alarm and, combined with the vacuum valve and pump, enables continuous monitoring of housing seal integrity before and during every dive — adding a critical layer of safety and peace of mind.
Viewfinder options
The A7R VI ships with Aquatica's Galileo-type coated optical eyepiece for a bright, full view of the camera's 9.44M-dot electronic viewfinder. For critical still image composition and focusing, the optional Aqua View Finder (#20054 straight / #20059 45°) delivers corner-to-corner magnified viewing and installs in minutes without tools.
Port system & compatibility
The A7R VI housing is compatible with the full range of Aquatica DSLR-sized bayonet mount ports, giving access to a mature and extensive system of dome ports, macro ports, zoom ports, and extensions to cover virtually any lens in your kit. A large 23.75mm HDMI bulkhead opening is built in for use with external monitors.
Strobe connector options
The A7R VI is available in four configurations to match your strobe system: no connectors (#20XXX-VC), Dual Nikonos (#20XXX-NK-VC), Single Ikelite (#20XXX-KM-VC), and Dual Optical with LED trigger (#20XXX-OPT-VC). All versions include the Surveyor vacuum system. The housing is also available in custom colours — contact Aquatica to enquire.
