Aquatica Shipping Housing for Sony a7R Mark V
By DPG Editorial Staff, September 4, 2023 @ 11:00 PM (EST)

Aquatica is shipping its new housing for the latest model in Sony’s full-frame Alpha 7 series—the a7R Mark V. Centering around the same 61MP BSI-CMOS sensor found in the Mark IV, the new model features a brand-new “deep learning” AI focusing system powered by a new Bionz XR processor.

Aquatica’s A7R V housing is made from “aerospace grade” aluminum with an anodized coating and powder coated paint, and features self-centering and spring-loaded controls. The housing allows the right thumb to operate the AF-On for back button focus while the right forefinger fires the shutter release, and there’s full access to the joystick for AF point selection.

Three configurations are available, with dual Nikonos connectors, a single Ikelite connector, or twin optical connectors. The company’s Surveyor vacuum system comes installed as standard.

Shipping now from retailers such as Backscatter, the Aquatica A7R V housing has an MSRP of $3,349.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Aquatica A7R V: 20097

Aquatica, one of the pioneers in the underwater photo industry is shipping their underwater housing designed specifically for the Sony A7R V 61MP full-frame mirrorless camera.

About the Camera

The Housing

The Aquatica A7R V housing is one of the smallest yet most ergonomic housings on the market. The housing’s design is centered on the user being able to concentrate more in the creation of their image rather than how to use the system. There will be much less figuring out of where controls are.

All the controls are set to be self-centering and are spring-loaded. The user only needs to set the camera on the tray and slide it into the housing, no alignment is needed.

Since the camera is easily user customizable and the buttons mapped for almost any purpose, everything is literally at the user’s finger (or in this case, thumb) tips.

What was previously an optional accessory; we are now including our field-proven Surveyor Vacuum System (Pump, Valve, and Sensor) as standard.
