Aquatica Announces The T2i Housing Is Now Shipping
By Matt J. Weiss, September 15, 2010 @ 02:23 PM (EST)
Aquatica announced that it is now shipping the Aquatica AT2i housing for the Canon T2i/550.
Though it was announced in July, it has undergone field testing since that time.
The release version has modifications that were not in the prototype. These include a new retractable focus/zoom gear rack and lens release lever - pulling out these controls help installing and removing the camera/lens assembly - and makes replacing the battery, card and lenses a less daunting task. The ergonomically designed controls are positioned so that all major features and functions, for both still and video shooting, are a fingertip away.

The housing is compact and light and is made from aluminum and high grade stainless steel components. The housing itself undergoes a military specification anodizing process and covered with a protective layer of baked powder coating.

The Aquatica AT2i has both optical and electronic strobes connections (the housing can be ordered with various combinations) , and housing controls allow uses to raise and lower the cameras flash, in the housing, to shoot with ambient light.
The internal controls of the Aquatica AT2i do not have control fasteners passing through the housing shell, which helps to prevent leaks. All controls are sealed with dual sealing O-rings and all push buttons are equipped with sealing Quad-rings. The housing is rated to 300ft/90m.

The small footprint and weight of the Aquatica AT2i, coupled with the 4” Mini Dome and the low profile Macro Port (designed especially for the Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro lens) should be of great appeal to those looking for a lighter dSLR rig for travel.
