Aquatica Announces Housing for Sony a1
By Ian Bongso-Seldrup, October 24, 2021 @ 07:30 PM (EST)

Aquatica is now shipping its new housing for the Sony Alpha 1. The flagship full-frame mirrorless camera features a 50MP stacked CMOS sensor, shoots blackout-free images at up to 30fps, and captures 8K/30p, 4K/60p and 4K/120p video.

Hewn from a block of “aerospace grade 6061 T6 aluminum” and finished with an anodized coating and powder coat paint, Aquatica’s housing features high-grade stainless steel control shafts and push buttons, and offers full access to the camera’s physical controls. Compatible with the company’s range of ports designed for DSLR housings, the new housing ships with Aquatica’s Surveyor Vacuum System as standard.

The housing can be ordered with Nikonos, Ikelite or fiber-optic bulkheads for triggering strobes, and various viewfinder options are also available. The HDMI bulkhead is a large-bore M24 port that supports HDMI 2.0, allowing you to connect, for example, an Atomos Ninja V external monitor/recorder. Intriguingly, in addition to Aquatica’s standard gray-black finish, the housing is available in custom colors—like the handsome bright orange example below.

Shipping now, the Aquatica A1 housing is priced at $3,200.
