Announcing the March Photo Contest Winners
By Lia Barrett, April 8, 2014 @ 03:23 AM (EST)

The March DPG photo contest, "Seahorses, Seadragons, and Pipefish," was a popular theme that ushered in a plethora of impressive imagery. The judges had a delightfully tough time choosing the top picks, but it became fairly evident that it was Fabien Michenet's image of a leafy seadragon that deserved top prize. So congratulations to Fabien, who will receive an FG16 Housing for a Canon Powershot G16 (over $700 value), thanks to the generous people at Fantasea.

Coming in for a close second is an image of a thorny seahorse shot off Puerta Galera, Phillipines by the talented Goos van der Heide. The striking symmetry and immaculate lighting really drew the judges in, so hats off to you, Goos!

Finally, our third place honors go to Bettina Balnis for this beautifully unusual perspective of a pipefish. Both color and composition also came together to formulate a unique take on shooting an otherwise difficult subject matter.

As always, thanks so much to our judges, editors Matt Weiss, Joe Tepper, and Lia Barrett, as well as Jeff de Guzman and Keri Wilk. And many congratulations to this month's winners and thanks to all who took the time to enter. And a special thanks to Fantasea for providing this month's prize!

Don't forget to enter the April contest, "Coral Reefs," for a chance to win an awesome prize bundle from Prawno Apparel! Contest closes on April 30 at 11:59 pm.
