Not content with the success of its flagship Singapore dive show, the organizers of the Asia Dive Expo—better known as ADEX—have lined up several additional events this year and next. The first is ADEX Sabah Ocean Partnership Summit 2023 from August 18th–20th at the Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu, capital of the East Malaysian state of Sabah. This is followed by ADEX India in Bangalore from October 6th–8th and ADEX Shenzhen in China from November 23rd–26th. Next year, ADEX Singapore is from April 12th–14th, while ADEX Japan in Tokyo is from September 27th–29th.

Organised in partnership with the Sabah Tourism Board, ADEX Sabah Ocean Partnership Summit 2023 is a unique event that brings together “global experts to discuss diving disciplines, ocean conservation, and sustainability.” The event promises to offer opportunities to connect with industry peers and the wider hospitality, conservation and education arenas. In addition, Ben Lecomte, marathon swimmer and ADEX Ocean Ambassador, and Hidy Yu, actress and ADEX Ambassador for Ghost Net Hunters, along with a team of scuba divers, volunteers, and environmental organizations will be raising awareness about the environmental impact of discarded and abandoned fishing nets. An International Mermaid Competition will also take place alongside the summit.

Ghost Net Hunters – The New Ocean Heroes at ADEX Sabah Ocean Partnership Summit 2023

At the ADEX Sabah Ocean Partnership Summit 2023, a group of dedicated individuals will emerge as ocean heroes, actively removing discarded fishing nets from the water. On August 20, 2023, Hidy Yu, ADEX Ambassador for Ghost Net Hunters, and Ben Lecomte, ADEX Ocean Ambassador, Guinness World Record Holder and swimmer, will spend 23 hours in the waters around the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), collecting ghost nets with specialized equipment. Their mission is to remove these nets without causing further harm to the marine ecosystem.

Hidy, Ben, and a team of scuba divers, volunteers, and environmental organizations will also raise awareness about the environmental impact of ghost nets.

ADEX Sabah Ocean Partnership Summit 2023 to Host Highly Anticipated Mermaid Competition

Mermaids worldwide are gearing up for an extraordinary journey to the ADEX Sabah Ocean Partnership Summit 2023, where the highly anticipated ADEX Sabah Mermaid Competition 2023 will take place. From August 18-20, the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Sabah, Malaysia, will transform into a mermaid haven. Esteemed freediving representatives and fellow mermaids from MFI, PADI, SSI will judge the performances live. The competition aims to foster a sense of community, inspire ocean conservation, and promote a sustainable future.
