2010 marked the first full year of DPG's monthly contest series. Each month, the judges were consistently amazed by the quality of entries. The 12 winning images of 2010 demonstrated the photographer's creativity and mastery of technique. Each one certainly was a worthy winner!
However, we can only have one Image of the Year. While our panel of judges voted for the monthly winners, we asked you, the underwater photography community, to vote for your favorite amongst the years winners. After a month of voting, the people have spoken, and they have decided that Debi Henshaw's Ribbon Eel portrait, winner of January Monthly Photo Contest, was the best image of the year (Read how Debi managed to nail the shot in her Behind the Shot article)
Congratulations to Debi! As the winner of the Image of the Year contest, Debi has won a voyage of 9 days on board the luxury liveaboard dive vessel, Solmar V, to the Socorro Islands. Your prize includes accommodation, diving, tanks and weights, and meals. Solmar V is a luxury live-aboard dive vessel that offers trips to the Soccoro Islands, Guadalupe, and the Sea Cortez, and caters to underwater photographers.
I want to take this time to thank everyone who helped make 2010's monthly contests possible - the judges; each months sponsors; and, most of all, everyone that participated.
A special thank you to Solmar V for graciously providing such an amazing prize for the Image of the Year contest.
