Each year, Beneath the Sea is pleased to give amateur underwater photographers and videographers a chance to compete with their peers from across the World. Beneath The Sea is proud to announce the winners of the 2008 competition!

The entire team at DivePhotoGuide wants to take this opportunity to congratulate both the winners and the organizers for a competition well done!

The Best in Show-Underwater Photography receives the David Doubilet award for excellence in underwater photography – the Grand Prize is a Live-Aboard Trip on the Telita - Papua New Guinea. This year's winner is Mark Melnick, of West Hartford, Connecticut for "The Mystical Waters of Mexico" (image to the right).

The Best in Show-Underwater Creative Photography receives the Jim Church award for excellence in underwater creative photography – Grand Prize is a Live-Aboard Trip on the Telita - Papua New Guinea. This year's winner is Karen Sweeney, Bokeelia, FL for "Drifter"

The Best in Show-Videography receives the Stan Waterman award for excellence in underwater video – the Grand Prize is a Live-aboard trip on the Nai’a – Fiji. This year's winner is Fred Heiman of Los Gatos, California. His video is titled: "Indonesia Underwater."
